Rogue River Spring Chinook Salmon Fishing Trips

The best eating of all the Pacific Salmon. As these high quality Spring Chinook Salmon enter Rogue River Country rivers fresh from the Pacific Ocean in the early spring months of late March to June. Rogue River Country rivers are cool from Cascade Mountain snow pack run off and spring rains. The Spring Chinook Salmon is hatched from eggs laid in redds (spawning beds) in the upper reaches of Rogue River Country rivers that extend far inland to the Cascade and Siskiyou Mountains. Spring Chinook Salmon will spawn in October. Spring Chinook build redds to hold their eggs in headwaters of Rogue River Country rivers where waters run cold and clear. After hatching the young Spring Chinook spends a year rearing in-river before reaching the smolt stage and receiving mother natures urge to migrate to the sea. In the Ocean, Rogue River Country Springers will feed and grow for 3 to 4 years, feeding on the oceans bounty from Monterey, California to the Gulf of Alaska. Spring Chinook which escape the rigors of ocean life, then return to their natal streams 3 to 4 years later in early spring
as 18 to 40 pound silver bright fat Spring Chinook Salmon adults.

Not all Rogue River Country rivers have a Spring Chinook Salmon run. The best rivers to catch these prize fish in are from north to south, the Umpqua River, the Rogue River and the Klamath River.
The Rogue River has the largest run of Spring King Salmon of the three rivers mentioned, although all three can produce good catches. These are all very large rivers in spring and a guide is recommended.
