What
affect does Oregon have on an artist? We asked Oregon artist
Vincent Chiantelli, who currently resides in Bend.
"Bend
encourages and promotes the arts. I have had the opportunity to
meet artists and share experiences. There are many opportunities
to show my art. I sculpt anything that interests me, but dinosaurs
and lizards are among my favorites. I have taken commissions, and
had the privilege of making the DC Horse for the Deschutes County
fair. I like making costumes and doing movie props. My two dogs
were the models for a recent sculpture that I just finished. I have
also had the opportunity to work with a couple of independent films.
I am interested in everything and everything seems to be in Bend."
Artist
Bio
I graduated
from college with an AA in art and painting, AA in Ceramic Arts
and mold making, I earned a Certificate of mastery as a ceramics
tech.
I did
my first sculpture when I was about 4 years old and still have it.
It was a dinosaur in red clay. I was influenced by the book
Dinotopia by James Gurney and movies such as Star Wars
& Jurassic Park. I loved the special effects of
Stan Winston, H.R.Giger, Steve Wang and many others.
I enjoy
sculpting lizards, dinosaurs and have sculpted my two dogs. I have
done my own version of movie monsters and brought them to life as
full sized costumes. I have designed and made many costumes taking
commissions from Japan and UK.I enjoy showing my work. I maintain
an informative web site on Dinosaurs that has been popular. I have
another dealing with my art and some of the people I have come to
know.
I moved
from California to Bend, Oregon almost two years ago. Since moving
I have become involved in some independent films, what a great experience.
So
much to discover and experience. So many interesting people to meet.
